Message to Japanese people
(Hazama)
Do you have any recommendations for people in Japan, especially the younger generation, who are reading this article about working in Cambodia?
(Ponlork)
Focusing on Cambodia’s economy, I really see news on the economy every day. From a global perspective, it may still be a long way off, but the Cambodian economy is likely to expand in the future, and laws are gradually changing to make it easier for foreign companies to enter Cambodia. It’s now easier than ever to start a business, and I think there are many business opportunities for Japanese people of all ages. I hope that many people with a high vision will come to Cambodia, make a profit, and grow the country.
(Phanith)
As you know, Cambodian society is in the midst of growth right now, and there are many things that need to be improved. That’s why I think there are so many business opportunities. For example, if a manufacturing company establishes a factory in the suburbs, employment opportunities will be created in the region, and I think it will be a good opportunity to revitalize the region. The cost of setting up a company and the land are still not that expensive. Taxes are also lower than in neighboring countries. I hope more companies will come to Cambodia.
(Naseath)
I think Cambodia is a society with a free atmosphere. When they want to try something new, I think they will have a lot of opportunities and will be able to make a lot of time. Cambodian people are also very kind. Everyone values their friends and their time outside of work, so I think they will welcome you warmly. Moreover, I believe that by working in Cambodia, they will be able to experience the growth of society as a whole. We are very important like the engine that makes the country grow. They and all of us can contribute to the growth of society and should be able to grow greatly.
(Langhy)
There is a strong image that Japan is all about working (laughs), so if you come to Cambodia, I think you will be able to work while relaxing. If you learn Khmer, you will be able to communicate with the local people, and basically everyone in the office can speak English, so it will also improve your English skills. In fact, everyone here communicates in English.

【Thinking about our future】
(Hazama)
Finally, do you have any dreams or goals for the next 5 or 10 years?
(Ponlork)
I hope that 10 years from now, the economy will be more developed and everyone’s life will be better overall than it is now. Everyone is working hard to make a profit and improve their lives, so I hope Cambodia as a whole will become prosperous. I am working hard to improve my skills even more.
(Naseath)
I want to do my best so that my child can receive a better education. Education is very important after all. I want my children to develop the ability to think for themselves rather than relying on others. For that purpose, I would like to do anything. I myself am currently working as an engineer and have gained a lot of experience. So I would like to share my experiences and knowledge with my colleagues, people in my hometown, and my children. I think that I can teach it to everyone as a real experience, not just being taught by a teacher. Rather than 5 years from now, I would like to solve the problems we have now. Nothing would make me happier than if I could acquire more skills myself and use my experience to help others. I have been helped by many people. So I want to become a person who can contribute to something. But it still hasn’t come true. I’m just thinking about it in my mind. I want to make it a reality someday.
(Langhy)
I also want to improve my own skills. My dream is to one day become a person who can contribute to the country. I feel that more effort is needed to achieve this. In the future, I would like to try some business, even if it is small. I also have a family, so I want to make sure that my family can live in peace.
(Phanith)
I would like to improve my skills as well. I’m working on the infrastructure team right now, and it’s a big project with a lot of people involved. I learn a lot from that. So I feel that I am in a very good environment. In the future, I also have children, so I would like to give them a better education. For that, I have to do my best. I hope that my own growth and the future of my children will improve as the country grows.
